Alvin Roth, Ph.D

Alvin Roth, PhD is the McCaw Professor of Economics at Stanford University, and the Gund Professor Emeritus at Harvard University. He shared the 2012 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics for his work on market design. Among the markets he has helped design are those through which American doctors get their first positions, and school choice systems used in many American cities. He is one of the designers of kidney exchange in the United States, which helps incompatible patient-donor pairs find kidneys for transplantation.

Abigail Marsh, PhD.

Abigail Marsh, PhD is a Professor of Psychology, Neuroscience, and Cognitive Science at Georgetown University. Her research aims at the questions: How do we understand what others think and feel? What drives us to help other people? What prevents us from harming them? Dr. Marsh is the author of the trade book FEAR FACTOR which details her groundbreaking work in neuroscience and her 2016 TED Talk relating her work to living kidney donation exceeds two and a quarter million views on TED.com.

Juan Carlos Caicedo, MD, FACS

Dr. Caicedo is a Hispanic Colombian Professor of Surgery and a multi-organ adult and pediatric Transplant Surgeon at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital. He is the surgical director of the Northwestern Liver Transplant Program, director of the Living Donor Liver Transplant Program, and Hepatobiliary Surgery. He is also the director and founder of the Hispanic Transplant Program at Northwestern Medicine, a first-of-its-kind program in the country that offers culturally competent and congruent care for Hispanic transplant patients and their families.

Mark Granovetter, Ph.D

Mark Granovetter is Professor of Sociology at Stanford University who has had a consuming interest in the way individual action, social networks and social institutions interact with and shape one another. His approach led him to the analysis of social networks and his 1973 paper “The Strength of Weak Ties.”  This now widely-cited publication showed how weak rather than strong ties bridge cliques that might otherwise be disconnected, thus conveying information to individuals about jobs, rumors and discoveries about which they might otherwise be unaware.

Azadeh Ajami-Kassir, Psy.D

Dr Azadeh Ajami-Kassir, PsyD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with extensive clinical experience both nationally and internationally.  Her passion for connecting with, understanding and helping to heal those struggling with addiction and mental illness has provided her the opportunity to interact with and treat many individuals from different cultures, backgrounds and professions.  Throughout her professional journey, Dr. Ajami has grown increasingly intrigued by the nature of altruism and the complex interplay between individuals’ personality traits, social norms, cultural values and belief systems that shape attitudes of humility, genuine generosity and empathy.

Bhante Sujatha

Ned Brooks

Ned Brooks is founder and Chairman of National Kidney Donation Organization, a not-for-profit foundation which advocates for living kidney donation, and mentors donor candidates at transplant centers across the country. Ned donated his kidney to a stranger in 2015 after retiring from a career in real estate development and securities brokerage. Ned is an active advocate for living organ donation who lives in Connecticut with his wife, Louise. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.

Harvey Mysel

Harvey Mysel is a 2-time kidney transplant recipient and founder of the non-profit 501(c)3 organization Living Kidney Donors Network.  LKDN educates people in need of a kidney transplant about living kidney donation and helps them communicate their need to family members and friends.  Harvey is featured in LKDN‘s online program Having Your Kidney Donor Find YOU! which teaches proven effective techniques that motivate, educate and provide examples on how to develop a successful living donor campaign.

Talia Baker, MD

Talia Baker, MD, is an internationally renowned expert in transplantation.  She is the Executive Medical Director of the Transplant Service Line, the Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation, and Chief of the Division of Transplantation and Advanced Hepatobiliary Surgery at University of Utah Health.  Dr. Baker practiced as an attending surgeon at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine for more than two decades and served as the surgical director of the living donor liver transplant program. She has a  passion and commitment to living liver donation and to the emerging practice of liver transplant oncology.

Curtisha Grant

Curtisha Grant knows firsthand the impact competent, sustainable support systems can be when challenges emerge in life. She is a survivor of Chron’s disease and a living kidney donor who served as an instrument of healing by donating one of her healthy kidneys to her son.  Curtisha advocates for families facing kidney disease, dialysis and kidney transplant. Curtisha received both her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Human Services, with honors, from Columbia College and her Master of Divinity from Grand Canyon University. She is the executive director for Key’s Kidney.

Raphael Parry

Noted director and actor Raphael Parry has recently retired from Shakespeare Dallas where he served as Executive and Artistic Director since 2002. During his tenure at Shakespeare Dallas, he has directed and performed in over 30 productions written by William Shakespeare and other classical writers. Mr. Parry is the co-founder and former Co-Artistic Director of Undermain Theatre. During his tenure at the Undermain, he directed and acted in over 40 productions. Undermain Theater was cited as one of the best small theaters in America by the Los Angeles Times during his tenure.
